Miriam Febres, LCMT

Miriam Ferbes is a graduate of Cortiva, Muscular Therapy Institute were she was trained in a variety of techniques. Miriam's specialty is stress reduction through relaxation and therapeutic massage. Through her compassionate touch, Miriam's caring and nurturing spirit enables her clients to let go of tension and stress and allow relaxation and healing to begin in the body. Developing a personalized plan for each client and tailoring each massage to the individual's need, Miriam is able to bring a greater body awareness to each client and create a safe and relaxing environment where the body can let go of stress and start to heal.

Liz Grabher,LCMT

Liz received her massage training at Cortiva Institute in Watertown and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Liz delivers a blend of Swedish techniques, deep tissue, myofascial release and trigger point therapy. In addition to practicing massage, Liz pursued her interests in good food and healthy lifestyles by obtaining a Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Food Science at The University of Vermont and works in the Clinical Research Center at Mass General Hospital.

Andrew Jurdan, LCMT

Andrew Jurdan, with more than 14 years as a massage therapist, brings a broad and comprehensive body of experience to Balanced Health, including extensive work in sports massage, deep tissue work, shiatsu and prenatal massage.

"Whatever our limitations are, massage has the ability to improve our function and quality of life. Through massage, I can help my clients move toward a more pain-free and full existence."

As a longtime practitioner and massage therapy instructor at Cortiva Muscular Therapy Institute in Watertown, MA, Andrew is passionate about the benefits of massage therapy and his practical Zen approach allows him to work with a variety of clients presenting with a wide spectrum of different issues. Andrew, the father of two young children, has a special interest in Infant Massage, with a focus on getting dads involved. He is a graduate of the East-West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, OR. Andrew is fluent in Spanish.

Katie Dunn, LCMT

Katie completed a rigorous science-based program at the Cortiva Institute in Watertown. Her studies included courses in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and kinesiology and training in different bodywork modalities, including Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage/stretching, myofascial release, and neuromuscular therapy. She is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Katie works with her clients to discover their individual body needs and then facilitate each person's personalized journey towards wellness. Research continues to reveal the effects of stress on the body, both physically and mentally, and Katie strives to help undo this damage. Whether stress comes from athletic endeavors, work tension, or the rigors of everyday life, the benefits of bodywork are vast and diverse. Katie works with her clients to address these tension patterns, reduce pain, improve flexibility, and increase body awareness. She believes that by listening to the body and paying attention to it with massage and other therapies, positive change can happen in the mind, body, and spirit. When Katie is not giving bodywork or helping new students of massage therapy learn their craft as a Teaching Assistant at Cortiva, you can find her practicing yoga, enjoying the ocean, or taking a drive with the top down. Katie is fluent in French.

Rebecca Mandel, LMT

Rebecca's background of study in the fields of Cultural and Medical Anthropology at Boston University led her to realize her calling to help heal through touch. Soon after completing her university studies. Rebecca became a Reiki 1 practitioner. She then studied at Cortiva Institute of Massage - Boston, where she studied Deep Tissues Massage, Myofascial release techniques, Neuromuscular techniques, and Swedish Massage. Rebecca applies a variety of techniques with both an anatomical and energetic focus with an aim towards alleviating tension, releasing holding patterns throughout the body, and maintaining optimum health and connectedness. Rebecca enjoys engaging in movement arts in her free time, including hula hoop performance and interpretive dance. She is also a classically trained singer and a guitar hobbyist who loves travel both locally and abroad.

Franklin Marcelo, LCMT

Franklin is a graduate of the Cortiva Institute where he studied sports massage, myofacial release, trigger point release, deep tissue muscular therapy and traditional Swedish massage. Franklin's extensive training allows him to find the most therapeutic combination of techniques -- one that is best suited for each client and provides a unique, individualized, therapeutic experience. Franklin enjoys working with a diverse population, ranging from athletes and dancers to clients working back from injury, as well as clients who just want to relax. Franklin strives to provide his clients with the highest quality massage that will benefit them today and continue to provide benefit in the future. He enjoys working together to help his clients find, achieve, and maintain balance. Franklin is fluent in Spanish.

Karen Micciche, LCMT

Karen practices Swedish massage, deep tissue work, myofascial release, sports massage and hot stone massage and is a graduate of the Cortiva Institute in Watertown MA. Her program focused on Muscular Therapy, with an in-depth study of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, ethics and business practices. Karen's previous education and background is within the telecommunications industry where she learned client-focused skills that complement her style of massage.

Karen's specialty is integrating various bodywork techniques to provide each client with a specialized and unique treatment that best addresses specific issues and tension patterns, as well as develop an individualized care plan to achieve and maintain wellness and relaxation. Karen is committed to continuing education and training in this dynamic field to better serve her clients and give them the best possible care. Karen believes that "We often underestimate the power of touch, a smile, or a kind word, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

Hannah Rohloff, LCMT, NCTMB

Hannah is a graduate of Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy and is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork. She is a member of the Society for Oncology Massage and the American Massage Therapy Association. Hannah came to massage therapy after a decade spent in the field of companion animal medicine. Her strong medical background was a perfect fit with the therapeutic massage focus and training provided at Cortiva. She enjoys working with a variety of clients using an integrative massage approach customized to each person’s unique needs and goals. Her clients range from those in need of extremely gentle, supportive touch to those seeking deep focused work for chronic pain, tension patterns, or injury management. Hannah also has an affinity for working with stones and provides Hot Stone massage as an add-on to any session with advance notice.

Hannah has a special interest in working with clients currently in cancer treatment and those living with cancer histories. She has advanced training in Oncology massage and is currently an Oncology Massage intern through the Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine Department at Boston Medical Center. In addition, she continuously strives to advance her knowledge and training through continuing education classes.

In her spare time, Hannah is a proud member of a local Tribal Belly Dance troupe and an avid bread baker. She dabbles in running and yoga, although dance remains her primary passion. She also enjoys exploring nature, cultivating an urban porch garden, and spending time with her gorgeous feline companions.

Emily Sullivan, LCMT

Emily's training is rooted in Swedish techniques. Whether applying gentle pressure or deeply manipulating tissue, her work emphasizes balance and centeredness through the fluidity of her transitions around the body.

"My goal is to create individualized treatment plans for clients with an aim to increase body awareness, encourage improved posture, and maintain flexibility."

Emily's approach to bodywork is greatly influenced by her background in dance. She trained intensively at Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education where she studied injury prevention/recovery and Pilates alongside classical ballet. This experience sparked her interest in kinesiology and has informed her understanding of the human body.

Emily is a graduate of Cortiva Institute Boston and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She is also a yoga practitioner, certified in Thai Yoga Massage from the Lotus Palm School in Montreal, Quebec, and also holds a B.A. in Sociology from Boston University. Emily has taught English as a Foreign Language in Morocco, Portugal, Spain, and the U.S.
